Inside

Bathroom

The bathroom when we moved in was not ideal, an old Avacado green suite which looked past its best and a layout which did not make the best use of the limited space available. This was our first improvement project.

After some head scratching and thumbing through catalogues we came up with a revised layout which makes better use of the space, its still a small room by any ones standards but it feels a lot better with a crisp white suite.

Kitchen

Our Kitchen lacked space for a dishwasher had a single oven cooker and an electric hob, all of which had to be sorted out and as the units were quite dark we decided to completely refit the whole kitchen which is divided into two rooms.

So, as you do, we took out the old kitchen units on Christmas Eve 2004, went out for Christmas lunch and set about refitting our new units and appliances over the next couple of days.

It turned out to be a great result, a more user friendly layout, a fantastic double oven and gas hob - (bottled gas & not in this picture) for the chef and space for the dishwasher.

Fireplace & Heating

This is our current project and involved removing the oil fired stove from the living room and fitting a wood burning stove into the original fireplace which has been bricked up for a number of years. In addition we will be adding a conventional oil boiler to provide hot water and to heat the radiators in the rest of the house.

This was both an exciting and slightly scary thing as we had no real idea of what we would find when we removed the plasterboard covering the fireplace!

What we did find was a big fireplace with an brick bread oven and we have fitted the wood burning stove, there is still some finishing works to do.

Plumbing works for the new boiler are ongoing and hopefully will all be completed before the autumn.
